Lakeland High School in collaboration with the University of Scranton's Graduate Counseling Honor Society, Chi Sigma Iota, held its first annual College Signing Day ceremony Wednesday for about 100 seniors who were committed to colleges, trade schools, or the military. Parents and seniors were treated to signing day pictures, breakfast, raffles, and guest speakers. This event is recognized nationwide as part of the former First Lady, Michelle Obama’s, Reach Higher initiative. "It was a meaningful event that celebrated the academic accomplishments of our seniors and promoted the importance of a post-secondary education in today's world," says School Counselor, Larissa Valonis.
